ROSUVASTATIN MECHANISM OF ACTION :
Class :statin
ROSUVASTATIN is a lipid-lowering drug.
ROSUVASTATIN is inhibit the enzyme hydroxymethylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) Reductase.
ROSUVASTATIN inhibit the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonic acid. This conversion is important in lipid metabolism .
LDL - low-density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol)
VLDL - very-low-density lipoprotein
HDL - high density lipoprotein (good cholesterol)
increase HDL is good for health
increase LDL is bad for health
ROSUVASTATIN acts in the liver, where decreased hepatic cholesterol concentrations and stimulate increases hepatic uptake of LDL.
ROSUVASTATIN also reduces
Very-Low-Density Lipoprotein-Cholesterol (VLDL-C)
serum triglycerides (TG)
Intermediate Density Lipoproteins (IDL)
